Crisis In Leadership

Crisis In Leadership

It is easy to look at the world today and see crisis wherever we look. It’s even easier to look many of our current world leaders and question their motives. Do they really care for the planet and the people that occupy it?

Around the world we are seeing people starting to say, ‘enough is enough’ and taking positive action to improve their lives and the world.  From 16 year old Greta Thunberg who has caught the world’s attention by demanding of her Gonvernment (in essence)  ‘if the environment is in crisis, why aren’t you doing something?’ to the people of Hong Kong who are turning out in their millions to protest to a change in the extradition laws with China, voices are starting to be raised in protest.

Now, I’m not about to get into a political debate (my grandmother always told me not to talk about politics) but, in my long experience of working in global organisations, I can see a correlation between poor leadership, (which is ego-driven and self-seeking) and many of the problems we are seeing at every level in our society.

I believe that leadership is the most powerful commodity in the world – but not just any leadership. To heal our over-impulsive and distraction-filled world, we need leaders who inspire. Leaders who can see a better future and take responsibility for bringing this vision to life.

I call them Inspirators

Look it up in a dictionary and you’ll find that to inspire originates in the idea of breathing – of sustaining life. So an inspiring leader breathes life in the ideas he want to share and then lives according to that vision. He doesn’t tell people what to do – he shows them by being the example for others to follow.

People often ponder: are leaders born or made? For me, it’s obvious: leaders are made. What makes them? Having a mission or a quest that needs to be fulfilled.

My own mission for the last few years has all been about inspiring people to be better than their best but now it’s changed,  I want to inspire people to take the lead in their life with their health, work, wealth and happiness.

A great life doesn’t happen by chance it happens by design and the only way to design it is to decide to take the lead and take full responsibility for the life that we have created.

In furtherance of that quest, I’ve just spent the last two years working on my brand-new book, Inspirators – The Leaders Journey which came out this week. The book charts the course of what it takes to be the creator of your life, how to  stop being a victim and how to be the leader that you and others want to follow.

It isn’t just a book of information, it is a coaching experience; a book you apply and use to go to work on yourself and learn to be a leader not just in business but in all aspects of life.

Are you ready to take the lead and rise above so much of the noise and chaos that is all around us in the world? If you are then maybe you are ready to become an Inspirator.
