TRANSCRIPT 085 The Christmas Podcast

It's Pete Cohen, it's the Mi365 podcast. It's the Christmas episode. Happy Christmas everyone. What's your favorite Christmas song? Come on, I want to know. Let me play you a little bit of mine.

Here you go.

Happy beautiful day, Pete Cohen here.

Yes. What is your favorite Christmas song. Mine has got to be this "I gave you my heart" because it's the only Christmas I think you can listen to any time of the year. And it doesn't matter that it's not Christmas I actually also really like that song Cavalry I think, yes, here it is, I've got it, you're ready. Here we go.

Come on ready. Oh,

Here we go now. Yeah, 1234, Mr Churchill there.

Why don't I just play Christmas songs forget my Christmas message. No, I want to speak to you guys totally improvised not really thought about anything I want to say apart from Merry Christmas to all of you. We're putting this out on Christmas Eve, and now I think it's the ninth of December and we are filming this and I do have a Christmas hat on and inside my Christmas hat there is something waiting to come out which I will share in a little while. Can anyone guess what it is? Can you guess what it is, yeah? Well, what we're going to say what we're going to talk about, you know what, it has been a very interesting year. It's funny how at this time of year many of us stop and reflect and kind of think about what's gone on before we move on to something else because you know what 2021 is just around the corner!

Yeah, it's going to be better it's going to be no problem everyone, it's going to be fine it's going to be better. So many people are thinking now. I don't think it will. I think it's going to be quite tough. I think a lot of people are going to have to get used to. A lot of things being different to the way they were before. But human beings are very adaptable, don't you think we are incredible. And I just want to take a few moments to wish you, your families, your friends everyone you know, Merry Christmas. But what is it about Christmas that makes it such an important event for people? I mean, I don't actually know maybe you could tell me I'd love to know actually.

As a child, some of you might know I'm Jew-ish. But I actually went to a Catholic school. And we did celebrate Christmas we just didn't have Christmas trees. Just, we've got a Christmas we've got the smallest tree in the world, but it's actually a real tree and then after Christmas be going plant outside and watch that tree grow.

So what does it mean for you? For me it just means a time of fun. It means a time of family, it means it's but for some people it's a very difficult time and a challenging time. I think for lots of reasons but I'd really like to ask you, how do you feel about where you are right now. And where is your focus of attention going to be after Christmas you know what is it that you're looking forward to. Because Christmas is obviously just one day, but from what I understand it's about celebrating the birth of someone who has had a big impact on the world and still has a massive impact. I wonder if he will maybe some of you think he doesn't know I mean I don't know what your relationship is with Jesus. But, I mean, I wonder what you'd make of what's going on right now in the world and what he'd say if he was here you know what his words would be? I mean my relationship with Jesus Christ is I think that he was a pretty remarkable human being who was basically trying to say to everyone, "Guys, you don't have to follow anyone or anything apart from yourself. You, The kingdom of heaven is within you, and you have the capability of doing great things. You can make this world amazing, you can follow your bliss." That's my taking of him but not he's not the only kind of spiritual leader that I have looked into because I'm one of those people who always looking for answers and always looking for solutions for things. And this year, right behind me now is the blackboard that many of you have seen me present over the last year doing loads of broadcasts when COVID kicked in. I think we did nine weeks of broadcasting every single day Monday to Friday, sharing wisdom about being optimistic, dealing with challenging times. And I've made so many podcasts, but this year for me there's been a couple of real key things and one of them is around virtues being a virtuous person, which means being courageous, being loving, being kind, being zest for being hopeful. And these are things I think we have to bring into play every single day. And I don't know what your biggest takeaway has been through Pete Cohen and Pete Cohen's world over the last year or the Mi365 world. The number one opportunity in the world I believe that people to revolutionize their lives. In fact in January. It's going to be five years. Five years of podcasting, pretty much a podcast every single week. You can do the math’s on that. How many is that that's how many weeks in a year, I've got Louie with me here which is another massive thing that's happened this year. I've got my young apprentice, who's working with me and lots of the content that we've put out the editing of this podcast the filming of this podcast. So many of the other great videos that we've made this year that touch the hearts and minds of people, but we are here to make a difference to you. You probably know that, but actually you know what we're going to do we're going to play a song for Louie because we can ready here we go. No, not that song we know that so we want to play this song.

Ready. Louie Louie Louie Louie Louie Louie

Louie. Oh,

10 points for anyone who can tell me, who that's by. I'll tell you is by Toots & the Maytals, and that song's called Louie Louie. That one's going out to you, Louie. Thank you for all your hard work this year and helping us get this content out there into the world. So it's not just Jesus Christ, I believe he was basically saying that life is amazing and follow your bliss and do what you need to do it was people like Muhammad. It was people like Buddha. And many people that have impacted the lives of people like Mahatma Gandhi who said "Be the change that you want to see in this world" or Martin Luther King, who said, "The most important question we should be asking is what can we do for others" and I'm here to say, "what can I do for you?" Look, this is a challenging time for so many people the world has been turned upside down and yes inside my hat. I have a Christmas, Christmas duck so I'll put that down here. For those of you that can't see that we launched a podcast today with someone who can see and he's blind. What a podcast that is with my friend Maxwell Ivey. If you haven't listened to that check it out. We've done over 60 podcasts this year. Podcast with Ronnie O'Sullivan, Andrea McLean. We've done a whole load of series as well for you. For you to feast your mind and feast your body on possibility. That's one of the other big things this year that we've been talking about what is possible? What is possible?

Everything's going a bit quiet. Because if you took a moment and you really thought about it, you'd realize it well. The sky's the limit. And I'd love to know you know my next year I'm just so excited about who I get to work with, who is gonna go out there and do some great work, who's going to achieve, who's gonna transcend their past. Because you know what I'm going to throw this out there as well. And I don't really care. It's not like I'm drunk. I'm just high on my coffee, you know the healthy coffee that I drink lovely podcast mug that I gave to Louie and I'm drinking out of it.

I look at a picture of my coach here Look, you can see that, Rafael Lugo. 16 years I worked with him. People who work with me often think, you know, it's just me, you know, just me but my work is based on 30 years. I can't believe it 30 years of really learning. But 16 years working with that man and every single day I'm thankful for the time that he spent with me. Giving me a different perspective of things. Because people don't change when we tell them what to do. People change when their perspective changes. And that's always been my goal to help people just like you listen to this podcast to feel like Pete Cohen. He would have heard a funny noise there.

Pete Cohen is talking to me yeah I'm talking to you. I'm talking to you, you don't want to me, I'm talking to you. I'm talking to you! Whoever you are, wherever you are in the world, I'm talking to you! What am I saying to you? I'm saying the sky's the limit, what do you want to do? Next year what goals? What dreams do you want to go after? Because if you're serious, go and check out what we've put together brand new training is absolutely free it's at goals.mi365.me.

It's how to have your best year yet the best year you've ever had. It's an 11 minute video on there and you can see some of the amazing stories this year that we've really been. We're in the story making business right that's what we do. We help people create an amazing story. And you can see some of some of what other people have achieved, and then just take 10 minutes and go through the goal setting assessment. And boy, will you find out at the end of that whether you have goals. How likely it is for you to achieve those goals, and what you could do to start taking some positive steps. The chances are you won't do it. You won't do it because you'll say, I'll do it later. And maybe that's one of the things you want to change next year is stop saying I'll do it later. Because if something takes less than two minutes to do. Don't say that! Get into the habit of doing it, getting out of your own way and really showing yourself, what you're truly capable of. So just take a breath. I don't have to. I could keep going at this speed but I'm not going to. Because what I want you to do is to take literally just take a moment and pause. And think to yourself, what is the difference that is going to make the difference this year, this year coming? What's the difference? Because, would you put money on yourself, making changes? And what are the changes that you want to make? I dare you to tell me. I'd love to know. What is it you want to make a difference? What is it you want to leave behind? I think that is the biggest learnings for me this year. For those of you that have been following my work, there's a couple right. One of them is definitely learning to feel, Think greater than you feel. Learning to think greater than you feel. Like for this song for example right,

Here we go now.

I can't believe George Michael is not with us anymore. I think it was the first or second album I ever bought wham, and the album's called Fantastic.

Here we go.

Last Christmas,

I hope my mom isn't listening to that because she can't she doesn't see things I can't sing. But you know what i can do accents, give me an accent, you know I can do it as long as it's an English accent you know so I could do all Scotland add a or I can do. Rob I tell you going is great isn't Jeez. That's kind of the Wolverhampton Birmingham part of the world. Why am I telling you that? Yes that's it I remember so when I hear this song. You know.

It gives me a feeling what about you?

How about?

Even hearing that song I feel drunk. But it's fascinating how you hear these songs, you hear something and it produces a feeling. And ultimately I think the biggest challenge that we face right now, all of us is to think greater than we feel because our thoughts produce feelings. And many of those feelings create stress, worry, doubt, anxiety. How would your life be next year if you could learn to think greater or not take your thoughts so seriously because you're always going to have this Duck. Duckology is always going to be there. That to me is one of the biggest things that we put out a lot of content around that. But what I'm so excited about is putting more content together around creating a new personality. I think so many people actually think that they are their personality and I just think it's nonsense. This year I really looked into it because I think we put ourselves in a box when we say we are who we are like I'm an extrovert. I can be an extrovert. But when I get up at four o'clock in the morning and I'm on my own I'm a total introvert. I think personality is situational, I really, really do. And I think a lot of people will say this is who I am and then they think that's who they've always got to be. I think it's nonsense. I reckon we can honestly be whoever it is that we want to be. But in order for that to happen. We've got to be future focused. We've got to decide the person that we want to come and what I'm looking for. And if this is you then just honestly reach out, and somehow, because what we're looking for is people that want to develop goals or work towards goals that aren't necessarily just about the outcome. It's about the person that they become on that epic quest on that journey. You know the book that we wrote, which came out in that a lot not that long ago, Inspirators I know many of you have seen this book. I don't think anyone realizes that they can actually get this book for free right. We'll pay that you can download it for free. It was like two years of work. They can buy it for six quid which is basically what it costs us to print and ship will give it to you. Plus, we'll give everyone we made a video for every chapter of the book. We give so much away. But that's our choice and the reason we give it away is we want to provide value we want to be of service to people just like you. As we start to wrap this podcast up I really really want you to take some time to think about what's next for you. You know who do you want to become in 2021. I say the odds are stacked against you. I think they're stacked against all of us because history has a pattern of repeating itself and changing isn't always easy, you know, but it's fun and exciting to think about who you could become. But I think lastly, I really want you to enjoy yourself but then in saying that enjoying yourself for most people means just letting themselves go, was that mean letting themselves go. Let myself go and I fell. You know, letting yourself go with an excessive amount of excess. And that doesn't always lead to happiness, especially the next day. So I, whatever you do have fun. You know, when people who tell me that they smoke, I say well great. Do you want to stop? And they go, No, I say right well, then just enjoy it. And you might as well enjoy what you do. But just know there's always more. Sorry for that example that might not have been the best example I've ever gotten that given that's me being self-conscious. But it is Christmas, I have put this out, have I? I have put this out I am putting this out on Christmas Eve, and I really really, really, really, really, really, really wish all of you an amazing Christmas.

Let's have.

Let's just play out with a few Christmas songs. Oh, wonderful time of the year, I think it's always the most wonderful time of the year.

It's the most wonderful time.

What do you reckon what is your favorite Christmas?

All I want for Christmas is for you to have a good time and enjoy yourself. Go and check out our goal assessment, like I say, it's free. Let's start thinking about possibilities. Because that's the only thing that exists in this universe. Infinite amount of things we could do, whether we do them or not. It's entirely up to you.

I want to thank you for being a part of our whole podcast experience we've only just got started with this, we will continue to provide content for you guys to take you from wherever you are to where you want to be.

Oh yeah.

I do like that song as well. Who is it. It's Paul.

See, seem to be parties Oh, I think upsetting though, I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart. Stop it. stop playing Christmas songs.

Guys, happy, happy, happy Christmas. Thank you so much. Let's go for it. Let's go for it. We'll see you soon. Thank you so much for listening. I just thought for a moment that I might not actually be recording the podcast, but I am! I have done that before. By the way, so I record that was a brilliant podcast. I didn't press record. I did press record, it will be out on Christmas Eve. Enjoy. Lots of love I'm driving home for Christmas, no I'm not because I'm already at home. We'll see you soon. lots of love. Bye bye.
