The Ultimate Choice

The Ultimate Choice

Everyone has things in life they want to achieve. Have you?

I’m sure you have even if you haven’t given it much thought or made the firm commitment to take action towards them.

What is interesting to me in all the people I’ve coached over the years is that their most compelling goals are not about what they can do for themselves but what they can do for other people. Even those who want to be fitter or to grow a business or find the perfect life-partner are doing it because of the impact they can then have on others around them.

And, once they focus on the outcomes they can bring to the rest of the world, they are no longer afraid to take the bold steps to make it happen.

Facing fear with love

Even the most driven people in the world are afraid. We all are. If I was to ask you to list everything you are afraid of right now, it would probably be a long list.

At the same time, there is probably an equally long list of things you love. The Greek philosophers even categorised love into six different types

  • Eros – which is the sensual and erotic love we usually think of
  • Philia – the deep connection that comes with loyalty and friendship – something which many of us find uncomfortable to express
  • Ludus – which is playful love and banter.
  • Agape – selfless love and sacrifice
  • Pragma – the love which is long-established and makes compromise
  • Philautic – the love of self and the love we give to others.

You have a choice

Not all of these forms of love will resonate with you but in understanding these you can see which you find easiest to express and which, if unlocked, would move you through feat and to the other side.

All you have to do is choose.

Choose how you feel; choose the love to express; chose to take action.

And that, in the end, will lead to achievement in your life.
